Professional Overview

Mr. Kazin focuses on business litigation, including partnership disputes, securities, employment, environmental issues, and real estate. He provides corporate guidance and serves as general counsel to corporate entities. He has tried jury, bench, and arbitration matters to verdict and judgment and represents clients before the Supreme Court of the United States, Appellate Division, First and Second Departments, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and District Courts for the Southern, Northern, and Eastern Districts of New York; District of Connecticut; New York Supreme Court; and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

In 2026 he authored the amicus brief for the National Tax Lien Association in Pung v. Isabella County, No. 25-95 (U.S. June 23, 2026) (holding that the price paid at a fairly conducted tax sale, not fair market value, measures just compensation for a tax foreclosure). The Court adopted the association's position in a unanimous decision. The ruling settled the measure of damages left open after Tyler v. Hennepin County, 598 U.S. 631 (2023) (holding that a county may not keep the surplus from a tax foreclosure sale), and it governs tax lien and tax title practice nationwide.

Professional Memberships and Recognition

Mr. Kazin is a member of the New York City Bar Association's Litigation and UCC and Commercial Law Committees, the New York State Bar Association's Commercial and Federal Litigation Section, and the International Bar Association's Litigation, Banking Law, Anti-Corruption, and Asset Recovery Committees. The International Bar Association named him a founding member of its North American Regional Forum Council in 2026. He is also a former member of the Federal Bar Council's American Inn of Court for the Second Circuit. He has been selected every year as a Super Lawyer from 2016 to present and holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Education and Background

Mr. Kazin is a graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. During law school, he clerked for Frank J. Scardilli, Chief Circuit Mediator at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Department of Defense at the Pentagon. He is an adjunct professor of law at Hofstra University School of Law, where he teaches fundamental lawyering skills. He lectures for the New York State Bar Association on judgment enforcement. He teaches for the National Business Institute in 2026 and teaches evidence, discovery practice, legal technology, and law firm management to lawyers across the country.

Mr. Kazin performs pro bono work for immigrant families and Kids In Need of Defense (“KIND”).
